LEICANDO

Welcome to Leicando, a visual journey dedicated to the art of capturing the world through my Leica M6 and M10 cameras. Here you’ll find a curated collection of my globe-trotting adventures, each captured exclusively with the classic Leica M6 film rangefinder and the modern Leica M10 digital rangefinder. Whether it’s the warm, tactile character of film or the crisp precision of digital, let’s dive into the stories behind each frame.

Camino de Santiago de Compostela

Over five unforgettable days, we walked 115 kilometers along the Camino Francés from Sarria to Santiago de Compostela. Through forests, villages, rolling hills, and historic towns, the Camino offered a perfect balance of physical challenge, personal reflection, and cultural discovery. Along the way, my Leica M10 became a trusted companion, helping me document the people, landscapes, and fleeting moments that made this pilgrimage so meaningful. These photographs are more than a record of the route; they are a collection of memories from a journey where every step and every frame told a story.

Day 1: Sarria to Portomarín (22 km)

The Camino began in Sarria, where excitement and anticipation filled the first steps of the journey. Walking through forests, rural farmland, and small Galician villages, I quickly settled into the rhythm of the pilgrimage. With my Leica M10 always within reach, I started capturing the quiet beauty of the Camino, from morning light filtering through the trees to fellow pilgrims sharing the path. The day concluded in the historic town of Portomarín, overlooking the Miño River.

Day 2: Portomarín to Palas de Rei (25 km)

Rolling hills and peaceful countryside defined the second day. The route led through charming villages, ancient churches, and endless green landscapes. The Leica M10 became more than a camera; it was a way of slowing down and noticing details that might otherwise be missed. From weathered stone walls to the expressions of fellow travelers, every frame told part of the Camino story.

Day 3: Palas de Rei to Arzúa (29 km)

The longest and most demanding stage brought some of the most memorable moments. Passing through Melide and its lively streets before continuing into forests and country paths, the day offered a perfect mix of challenge and reward. As fatigue set in, photography helped me remain present, capturing the character of Galicia and the resilience of those making the same journey toward Santiago.

Day 4: Arzúa to O Pedrouzo (19 km)

With Santiago drawing closer, the pace became more reflective. Surrounded by eucalyptus forests and peaceful trails, there was time to appreciate how far the journey had already taken me. The Leica accompanied every step, documenting not only the landscapes but also the emotions, friendships, and quiet moments that make the Camino such a unique experience.

Day 5: O Pedrouzo to Santiago de Compostela (20 km)

The final stage was filled with anticipation and emotion. Entering Santiago and catching the first glimpse of the cathedral was a moment I will never forget. After five days and 115 kilometers on foot, arriving at the Cathedral of Santiago de Compostela felt both triumphant and humbling. My Leica M10 captured the final images of the journey, preserving memories of a pilgrimage defined by perseverance, reflection, and gratitude.

Buen Camino.

Portugal

Portugal is a country that rewards curiosity, where every street, coastline, and historic square tells a story. From the vibrant energy of Lisbon and Porto to the charming villages, dramatic Atlantic views, and centuries of history woven into everyday life, this journey was filled with unforgettable moments of discovery.

Traveling with my Leica M10, I embraced a slower pace, taking time to observe the light, architecture, landscapes, and people that make Portugal so unique. The camera became more than a tool; it was a companion that encouraged me to be present and capture the beauty found in both grand landmarks and quiet, unscripted moments.

This gallery is a collection of those experiences, a visual diary of Portugal through my lens. Each photograph reflects the country's rich culture, timeless character, and the joy of exploring with curiosity and purpose. Through the viewfinder of my Leica M10, I sought to preserve not only what I saw, but also what I felt along the way.
